CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY – TV CONSUME

CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY – TV CONSUME

Nowadays, TV is a not avoidable part of life. You can find a television in every house or office. Even children have their own televisions.  But what are the effects on humanity? Sure watching too much TV is one of the major sociological issues of this century, which has many effects on the phsyiology and psychology of adults and children.

One of the most important physiological effects of watching Tv in excessive amounts is eating disorders. People are captured by the TV, they never get enough of it. So they begin to eat in front of the television. Their meals are often unhealthy because they also don’t take the time to cook a healthy meal. Besides, they are very inactive and don’t do anything else. As a consequence, people get eating disorders and have to deal with obesity.

Apart from the physiological effects, TV also causes psychological effects. For instance, people have less communication, today. Instead of meeting a friend at the weekend, people prefer to sit in front of the TV. Even people living in the same house don’t talk to each other. As a result, people have no social life. In a society they have problems to communicate and need to be socialized.
Another important pyschological effect is being exposed to violence. After seeing so many violent scenes on TV, people start considering violent actions normal and they lose their sensitivity to their environment. Due to this violent scenes people tend to agression. TV programs with violent content, especially influence the behavior of children. So, the next generation is going to be agressive and violent.

Shortly, we have to learn how to benefit from the television. TV need to be used for the right purpose only – being educated and entertained for a reasonable period of time. Even if we cannot avoid the television completely, we can reduce the consume.

SKIING BECAME A DISASTER

Everything was wonderful. We planned to have an exciting weekend with our friends in Himalaya. However, we all weren`t aware of the miserable things waiting us the next day. If we had known what was comming next, we wouldn`t have had so great expectations.

The day went on as it was planned. We prepared everything especially our ski-equipment. We met immediately with our friends at the  same cafe as usually. We talked about things we have done the year before and had fun. Helen looked at her watch and warned us to get ready. The bus would arrive in 15 minutes. The conversation was so deep that we hadn`t realized  the time passing.

Everybody was laughing and acting like primary school children. Meanwhile, I was looking out of the window and began to dream… The bright, blue sky was smiling to me, which symbolized to me that our holiday would be amazing. The mountains covered with snow captivated me. Suddenly a piece of paper awoke me. Jack asked me loudly: ” Won`t you join us? ”I refused to answer him and threw the piece of paper back and joined them.

After we arrived at the hotel, we left our bags and went out with our equipment. The guide warned us to be in groups at least of four and to use the minumum voice while talking. We decided to walk to peak. The weather was cold and gloomy. It made us feel stranger. Promptly, Elizabeth heard the wolf`s noises and screamed. We heard the echo of her scream several times. The ground began to shake and I felt like everything was going to collapse. Intentionally we crouched down, but unfortunately Jack lost his balance and trundled. While we were trying to catch Jack, a horrible noise was coming closer to us. It seemed like the sky was shouting to us. The sliding and approaching of the snow took only a few seconds.

When I opened my eyes, I felt something heavy on me. It was real dark but I was able to realize the snow laying over my body. As soon as I understood that it was an avalanche, I tried to stand up and find my friends immediately. I heard the voice of Helen`s crying. I told her to be quite lest there could be another avalanche. After calming her down, I looked around and the all the snow around us was smooth as if nothing had happened. We found the glove of Jack while looking for the others. We ran towards it and started to dig around the place the glove was laying. Actually he was laying there. I saw his hand, which was almost frozen. We got him out of there with hard work. As the guide told us before, we rubbed his body with snow. Slowly he regained consciousness, but he trembled. Helen stayed with him and I looked for Elizabeth. But there was no help, I couldn`t find her. So I called the emergency  to help us. They arrived within half an hour. The emergency team asked us whether Elizabeth had a cell phone with her. Fortunaly she had it and the emergency team could find her with the help of the cell phone`s signal. At the time we found her, she was almost frozen and the emergency took us immediately back to the hotel.

In the evening we realized what a big disaster we had. Luckily no one died. We were all happy to be alive. Maybe it was a lesson to us and we learned that a very little mistake could cause big troubles. I don`t think that we will be psychological able to ski in the next few years. Even today, I have nightmares about that incident and cannot forget it.

OPINION ESSAY ABOUT NONCONVENTIONAL MEDICINE

Sure almost everybody had the expierence of nonconventional medicince, but probably in different ways. When I was younger I had to drink herbal tea everytime I catched the cold. An Italien friend of mine told me her mother had some other “Healing Drinks”. In my oppinion it is important to see a doctor if you are ill but you can also use other methods as far as you don`t exaggerate it.

First, If you gonna ask me what nonconventional medicine is I would say it is a type of medicine, which is used by some communities and wich is not based on scientific evidence. Tradition and culture are sure the most dominant things in nonconventional medicine. People make drinks or medicines they have learned from their ancestors. Futhermore it also could be something like alternative medicine, where you can try several methods to heal an ilness. For example you can make meditation in order to feel better. If you are suffering from cancer it can be very useful to make meditation. If you are stronger and feel better it is more likely to overcome a disease. Besides, when we use Homeopathy, Acupuncture or Herbalism it is also nonconventional medicine in my mind. I think people describe this type of medicine in different ways and have different attitudes toward it. This is why we shouldn`t set precise limits to it.

Second, I am not against nonconventional medicine. In the opposite I think sometimes it can be very helpful. My father get the cough four years ago. He suffered 2 month from it, but no medicine no cough drop was helpfull. The husband of my aunt is spanish and told my father to drink everyday a little bit pepermint oil. After a week my father had nothing. What I mean is you can use nonconventional medicine to support the process of healing. But trying to heal an illness without seeing a doctor and using those methods is completely senseless in my oppinion.

All in all it depends on you to use or not to use nonconventional or alternative medicine. A lot of methods are really helpful, but some are senseless like eating raw eggs helps you think better. I would suggest you to be selective and think about what you are doing. Maybe the methods of nonconventional medicine are not proven but they are experienced. People use them since ages and I am sure they will be used some another ages too.

comparision of the films

If I am going to compare the two films "Angela`s Ashes" and "The Miracle Worker" I can say the fight against a handicap had much more impact on me.Sure in both films they try to change a life but in "Angela`s Ashes" it is more likely to overcome it.There had been several persons in the history who were able to overcome an obstacle or to climb up the social ladder. But teaching a blind and a dumb girl to communicate in each way is almost impossible.Besides if you are a teacher, who had been handicapped before and people have prejudices, it becomes more difficult to get ahead.

To sum up both films were great and high of quality but "The Miracle Worker" was much more impressive. The rols were carried out so well that I could really feel the film.
